No matter where my feet lead me
I'm always a stranger lacking glee
My home wrenched my pieces asunder
Doth exist a sacred shelter
A place to close my foggy eyes
Without imagining ways of my demise
Treacherous life in which to welter
Oh, can I uncover a sacred shelter
Snarling beasts snort the scent of fresh meat
Storms keep bullying me into retreat
My tired, clumsy limbs ain't at all discreet
My mind playing me in states of deceit
Trudging on through, dim light flickers in my heart
Fearing my time will soon depart
Oh, what wisdom and advice I could impart
Should I be blessed by a sacred shelter

Except For Me
Days are strolling on by and the nights are bolting past
I'm floating in circles, haunted by my glowing EKG
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
Theaters, bowling alleys, mall stores biting the dust
Fancy new places sprouting, places making me wanna flee
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
Kicking my hobbies to the curb and picking up hitch-hikers
Letting my will decay, ignoring my own formal decree
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
The bard found a new tune to play
A lovely new bride to obey
Learned new magic to impress
Ventured beyond the city gates
Seeking to twist his foretold fates
Hunting lost souls that he may bless
Hopping from job to job and house to house
My heart is always acting the absentee
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
Can't stand up straight, my eyes are feeling weak
Who can I go to, to whom can i plea?
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
The knight survived through many a battle
Now he's retired and yoking cattle
Took his family out to a farm
Left the ruling to his brother
Didn't mind disappointing his mother
Even took up quilting with yarn
Spent a whole year trying to change
Ain't nothing I can do now but drop to me knee
How is it that everything is changing, all except for me?
